Although we are living in unpredictable times, there is one constant we know we can depend on: yearly Pokemon releases.
It was only a matter of time until one of the more celebrated generations in the series, Diamond and Pearl, would see a remake. It seems that day will finally arrive for the brand new Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl on November 19, 2021!
You may think the release of these games marks the moment trainers get to embark on a new adventure and make one of the biggest decisions in their journey: Do they choose Chimchar, Piplup, or Turtwig? However, in Japan theres a much harder decision to be made well before these games even make it into our hands.
The true question is where should you pre-order your games from?
There are a huge number of shops that accept pre-orders for Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, and depending on which store you choose, you can receive special limited edition gifts! But not all are created equal.
It almost feels as if the answer to this question should be a no-brainer. Of course the Pokemon Center, right? If you like the idea of receiving an art book that corresponds with the version of the game you choose, then it may as well be. After all, there really is nothing quite like the feeling of receiving a brand new Pokemon game straight from the Pokemon Center itself. Getting a special bonus gift only adds further on to the excitement.
Let's take a step back for a minute though and consider this: why settle with the Pokemon Center when there are a plethora of other options just about everywhere you look? In fact, there are more than 20 shops offering special favors for pre-ordering the games and all of them are completely different.
Some of my personal favorites are these glasses from Ito-Yokado.
Of course the art book is awesome, but just imagine having the chance to use these in your every day life!
Similarly, Aeon is offering stainless steel tumblers while WonderGOO pre-orders come with mugs.
Most impressively is Amazon Japan.
Amazon offers a variety of pre-order options that come with their own unique benefits. Each copy of the game in it's physical form gets its own unique Pikachu soy sauce dish (of course you get both for buying a double pack) and if you're willing to shell out an extra $48 you can get plush dolls of all three Sinnoh region starters.
If you feel a little overwhelmed by the cost and don't need any extra bells and whistles, you can pre-order the games alone and receive a $10 discount for each copy.
For more practical, lifestyle options check out Rakuten Books and Yodobashi
Rakuten Books has gone a different route from what we've seen from other stores up until now. By reserving a copy of Brilliant Diamond you can expect to receive an eco bag, but if you choose Shining Pearl you can get a place mat.
Yodobashi is also unique in it's own way. At first glance a mask might feel a little "cheap" in comparison to all the other giveaways, but don't let that fool you! (Check out the image below)
The mask seems to be an added bonus to a couple other freebies: rulers with themes that coincide with each edition of the game.
Speaking of which, a slew of companies have also bought in to the idea of stationary related items.
Order from Joshin and you will receive a desk calendar.
Nojima provides notebooks. All three notebooks can be yours if you order the bundle pack of both games together.
Mr Max may be one of the most simplistic options by including sticker sheets for each game.
Other seemingly popular selections include cases, pouches, keychains and towels or small clothes.
Multi-use case from FuruIchi
Bic Camera has a mini pokeball pouch
Tsutaya is also giving away pouches
Rubber Keychains from Geo
You can catch these adorable Pikachu charms from Family Mart
Or if you would prefer Turwig, Chimchar and Piplup charms, HMV has you covered. You will also receive a download code for 100 Pokeballs when you start your game! Two codes for a total of 200 Pokeballs will be given to those who order both games.
These wash clothes come from Animate
Edion is giving away a long Pokeball towel
Interestingly, Yamada Denki's options are not based the version of the game you buy but rather the time of your preorder. Option 1 is a microfiber cloth, while option 2 is a clear file. Unfortunately the clear files have already run out so you can only get your hands on the small cloth.
And last but not least is Seven Eleven.
Let's say physical items don't quite do it for you and you would prefer something more suited for your journey to become a Pokemon Master. Seven Eleven gives you the opportunity to start your game out in style with a set of 7 unique Pokeballs for download. A double pack lands you with two codes to obtain a total of 14 Pokeballs.
Which giveaways do you like best? Whether the items are small and simple or go above and beyond, theres something for everyone!
In fact, another new Pokemon game, Arceus Legends, is set to release on January 28, 2022 with more exclusive pre-order gifts! Let me know if you're interested and I can feature those giveaway items as well.
For those who want to get their hands on any of these goodies, feel free to contact me via social media or through the mail form on this site! The price per individual game using Atsume Demon's shopping services may vary from shop to shop, but you can expect to pay somewhere around $90, or $120 for the double pack. Shipping depends on package weight/size so prices may differ based on the products you receive.
